Hygiene Tips to Keep You Feeling Clean and Smelling Good

Having good personal hygiene seems like something that would be fairly simple to maintain. Take regular showers or baths, brush and floss your teeth, comb your hair, etc. All of this is simple if the busyness of life doesn’t get in the way. However, it always gets in the way and that is why we need to make extra sure that solid hygiene is maintained.
Consistent personal hygiene is one of the most important ways we take care of ourselves. Taking a shower or bath every day and brushing your teeth is mandatory, however there are other components to your hygiene that will keep you looking and feeling fresh all day.Whether you’re on a team sport or just playing for fun, if you’ve gotten really sweaty this is something to be aware of. If you feel drenched in sweat, take a shower after playing or exercising. If you’re in school and that isn’t an option, at least put on more deodorant. A lot of times people shower once a day. Then they think that that is all they need to do. This couldn’t be further from the truth. Our bodies are working all the time. We might not be able to smell ourselves but other people can. Thinking about this before and after you play or exercise, will allow you to smell fresh all day and avoid any potential embarrassing or smelly situations.
Your appearance is how you present yourself and how you “appear” to others. It is good to comb your hair every day. Check your clothes before putting them on to make sure they’re clean. If they are dirty or have an odd smell, don’t wear them. Remember, if you can see or smell something so can somebody else. If you are at the age where you are shaving, keep an eye on it. Check it every few days and see if where you are shaving needs to be groomed. Ask a parent or other caregiver for help if necessary. Try and get on a schedule with this aspect of your grooming. This will make your appearance consistently look neat and tidy. Oftentimes when people don’t look that way, others assume that they don’t care about their appearance. That often isn’t the case at all. Sometimes people are unaware of aspects of their appearance and they need a gentle reminder.
Oral Hygiene is another important way you can take care of your health. Sure, brushing and flossing may not always be the funnest things to do. However, when you go to the dentist, you and your dentist will be happy that you’ve done this daily maintenance. In fact, if you start brushing and flossing twice a day at a very young age, that will go a long way toward lowering potential dental issues down the road. Something to keep in mind is that once your baby teeth fall out, you won’t be getting another set of real teeth. Sure, crowns and dentures help people, but, unless there’s extenuating circumstances, young people shouldn’t have a mouth filled with them. When that happens it’s usually later in a person’s life. Also, it’s easy to think that if we don’t brush people won’t notice. After all, we can keep our mouths closed, right? Wrong. When you talk to people they will be able to smell your breath. When you smile in pictures people will see your teeth. In fact, teeth that aren’t taken care of are one of the first things people notice about you. So, take care of them now early and often and that will pay off down the road. Lastly, if you’re going to all the trouble to keep your appearance nice and clean, the last thing you want is to have teeth that aren’t.

Personal hygiene can also keep us safe. One of the simplest ways to do this is to WASH YOUR HANDS. The CDC says that washing your hands for 20 seconds can go a long way toward stopping the spread of germs. Think about all the food you eat and all of the things you put into your mouth. You want the people who make those things to have clean hands, right? Well, the people in your life want you to do the same. Taking the time to do this small part of personal hygiene, will ensure that you have clean hands in most situations. Doing this will keep your hands and nails clean, reduce your chances of getting sick, and add to your neat and tidy appearance.

By doing these few, simple hygiene tips every day, you can ensure that your personal hygiene is where it should be. The best part about this list is that showering, putting on deodorant, combing your hair, taking care of your teeth, and washing your hands don’t take a lot of time. Once you start doing them they become easier and easier. People will take notice how good your hygiene is, and, most importantly, you will feel really good about yourself and your appearance.
