Santa Ana - ABA

Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA), done in a person-centered way, is at the core of ABSI’s LET’S LAFF social groups. This evidence-based therapeutic approach breaks down complex behaviors into smaller components, and uses principles of learning and reinforcement to teach new skills and behaviors.

These are some ways that ABA is paired with social skills:

  1. Assessment: Assessments are done by ABA practitioners to identify specific social skills deficits and strengths for individuals who are neurodiverse. Based on these assessments skills are targeted for intervention. Additionally, current strengths are focused on with the goal of building meaningful connections in their lives.
  2. Targeted interventions: Interventions in the form of person-centered ABA programs are put in place. These programs address social skills in a way that aligns with the participants individual interests and goals.
  3. Data collection and analysis: ABA utilizes data collection to monitor progress and adjust interventions as they present themselves. LET’S LAFF practitioners track improvements in social skills over time, adjusting programs as necessary.
