Autism Behavior Services Testifies at CalOptima Board Meeting on Behalf of Increased Resources for ABA Services.

Autism Behavior Services, Inc. (ABSI), a leading provider of autism services for people who are neurodiverse, recently testified at the CalOptima Board Meeting advocating for increased resources dedicated to Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) services. The testimony aimed to highlight the critical need for enhanced support and funding for individuals with autism spectrum disorder (ASD) in the community.

“The need for such services cannot be understated.” ABSI President Andrew Patterson stated. “Today is a big win for the children in Orange County diagnosed with autism. CalOptima has really taken a leadership role to address the resources needed to deliver ABA in an environment with severe workforce shortages.”

During the CalOptima Board Meeting, ABSI representatives shared compelling evidence and firsthand experiences to emphasize the profound impact ABA services can have on the lives of individuals with autism. They emphasized how the evidenced based practices of ABA interventions can significantly improve communication skills, social interactions, and overall quality of life for those diagnosed with ASD.
“ABSI is on the front lines every day with the very families that need these important services,” said ABSI’s Government Relations officer, Eric Linder. “The more resources they have to help families and school districts, the greater the impact and more strength that will offer to EVERYONE in the community.”
ABSI urged the CalOptima Board to prioritize the allocation of additional resources for ABA services, citing the growing demand and limited availability of such interventions in the region. They highlighted the importance of early intervention and the long-term benefits it offers in mitigating the challenges faced by individuals with autism. In addition to this, they offered numerous examples and “in the field” case studies to bolster their point that access to these resources is needed on an ongoing basis.
“Access to high-quality ABA services is crucial for individuals with autism,” said ABSI Assistant Clinical Director, Briana Jaramillo. “We appreciate the opportunity to address the CalOptima Board and advocate for increased resources dedicated to ABA services. By investing in these evidence-based interventions, we can positively impact the lives of countless individuals and their families.”
Autism Behavior Services is committed to providing comprehensive and individualized ABA services to individuals who are neurodiverse throughout the community. Their team of dedicated professionals works collaboratively to develop personalized ABA therapy plans and support individuals in achieving meaningful and lasting outcomes.
