Stockton, CA – On July 31, 2023, Autism Behavior Services, Inc. (ABSI), a leading provider of specialized services for individuals with autism, is pleased to announce an exciting collaboration with Delta Community College in Stockton, CA to develop and implement Soft Skills development seminars tailored for students entering the workforce. In addition to this, ABSI is collaborating with Danell Hepworth the Dean of CTE & Workforce Development to develop a Behavior Technician Program.
This partnership aims to address the unique needs of students, focusing on enhancing their soft skills, which are essential for success in various aspects of life, including academics, employment, and social interactions. The Soft Skills seminars will be designed to provide students with the necessary tools to navigate and thrive in diverse environments. The hope is that students will be able to take advantage of these seminars, and then apply the skills learned to the multitude of situations they will encounter on the job.
The Behavior Technician program will be a comprehensive series of courses that will prepare students to work in the field of autism. However, it will focus on different areas of neurodiversity with the goal being to prepare students for the entry level position of Registered Behavior Technician or Applied Behavior Analyst Technician. Utilizing the resources of Delta Community College and ABSI’s deep talent base of clinicians and behavior technicians, this program promises to be one of the most robust in the state. Delta Community College, renowned for its commitment to inclusive education, has long recognized the importance of fostering an environment that supports the diverse learning needs of its students. By teaming up with ABSI, the college aims to expand its efforts in providing comprehensive support and resources to all students.
The Soft Skills seminars will be developed in consultation with ABSI’s expert clinicians and behavior technicians, ensuring that they are evidence-based and tailored to meet the specific challenges faced by today’s future workforce. Through the seminars, participants will be equipped with valuable skills such as communication, teamwork, problem-solving, time management, and more.
